Tree Pruning in Hendersonville, NC
Well-timed pruning keeps trees healthy, structurally sound, and safely clear of your home, driveway, and power lines. Poor pruning does the opposite — it invites decay, weakens the tree, and can create real hazards down the road. We prune with the whole tree in mind, not just the branch in front of us.
Our climbers are trained in proper cut placement, load management, and modern rope-and-harness technique. We work carefully around structures, gardens, and fences so the trees look better when we leave and the yard stays untouched.
Whether you need dead-wooding on a mature oak, canopy thinning for airflow and light, or clearance pruning to get limbs off your roof, we've done it across Hendersonville and Western NC for years.
Every Tree Pruning project includes
- Dead-wooding and hazard limb removal
- Structural and formative pruning on young trees

What customers say about our work
"I hired Jose Ramirez to do several projects in our yard recently. He and his crew rebuilt and cemented a falling-down natural stone wall around a dogwood in the front of our house. His crew also added river rocks (on top of landscape fabric) around both of our HVAC units as well as our generator to keep the rain from splashing dirt up into the fins of these units. Additionally, they fixed several dozen loose pavers on our patio that were becoming hazardous to walk on. They removed a crepe myrtle that had outgrown where it was planted, removed lower branches from 2 leyland cypress trees, and divided 2 large clumps of chrysanthemums into 6 clumps. They did an excellent job on all of these and other smaller things in the yard. I highly recommend Ramirez Lawn & Landscaping."
"Mr. Ramirez came the same day I called to look at the landscape damage I suffered from Hurricane Helene. He offered several suggestions which sounded better than what I was thinking. I felt his price was fair and we shook on it. His crew arrived two days later as scheduled. They worked steadily and efficiently and, to my amazement, finished the project in one day. They cleaned up around the work area when they finished. The results exceeded my expectations and I am very glad I chose this company to do the work."
"We would absolutely recommend Jose Ramirez and his crew. We will hire them again when we need their services. Efficient, respectful, completed a very challenging job taking down 2 extremely tall trees and removing them from our property in an area not accessible by crane or other machinery. The entire job was done by hand and done in a day. Left our property clean and in better shape than they found it."
Frequently asked questions
When is the best time of year to prune?
Most deciduous trees prune best in late winter while dormant, but hazard cuts and dead-wooding can be done any time of year. We'll advise per species when we quote.
Can you prune without spikes?
Yes — we never use climbing spikes on trees we're pruning, only on removals. Spikes wound live trees and invite decay.
Will pruning hurt the tree?
Not when it's done correctly. Proper cuts at the branch collar heal cleanly. We follow modern ANSI-style pruning practice on every job.

This is a technique used only by professionals due to its danger. For this it is important to be properly trained and have all the necessary tools. At Ramirez Lawn & Landscaping we use regulatory ropes, harnesses, and safety devices to protect climbers from falling.

A common mistake when pruning shrubs is to concentrate only on the outer surface of the shrub, depriving the internal structure of sufficient light for photosynthesis, which can lead to 'hollow bush' syndrome and a much shorter lifespan. Professional shrub pruning requires the ability to prune for both health and shape.
